Saturday Volunteer Days
Saturday Volunteer Days, May–October
Spend a Saturday morning with us caring for the land. You'll work alongside our farm team and fellow neighbors on whatever the season needs most.
When: Saturdays, May through October, 11am–1pm
Where: BLISS Meadows, 5111 Plainfield Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206
What you might do: plant and harvest crops, mulch and weed, care for the orchard and pollinator gardens, clear trails, and help with stormwater and forest projects
Who can come: everyone 18 and older; volunteers under 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian.
What to bring: water, sunscreen, and clothes and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. We provide tools and gloves.
Free: Registration is required so we can plan tasks and tools.
Need service-learning hours? We can sign off on your hours. Let us know when you arrive.
Become a Core Volunteer
Core Volunteers are the steady hands behind BLISS. If you're looking for a regular way to give back, learn new skills, and become part of the Backyard Basecamp community, this is for you.
The commitment: 1–2 hours, weekly, for at least one season / 3 months (May - Oct)
Roles may include:
- Farm and garden support: planting, harvesting, and market garden care
- Land stewardship: trail care, invasive plant removal, and tree care
- Animal care: helping with our goats and chickens
- Event support: helping at community events like the Harvest Festival
What you'll get:

- A flexible schedule that fits your life
- Produce share, discount of farm store, invitation to volunteer appreciation events
How to join: complete the interest form, then join us for a short orientation and a Saturday Volunteer Day to find the right fit.
Group and Corporate Volunteer
Volunteer as a Team
Give your team a day outdoors that makes a real difference. Group volunteer days include a welcome and tour of BLISS Meadows, a meaningful project led by our staff, all tools and gloves, and a group photo to share.
Group size: 6–30 people
Length: about 3 hours
Season: April–October; book at least 4 weeks ahead
Community groups, schools, and faith groups: free, or a suggested donation of your choice.
Corporate Groups
Corporate groups: a team-day contribution supports the staff time, tools, and materials for your project, and helps keep our community programs free.

Does your company offer volunteer grants? Many match employee volunteer hours with a donation. Ask your HR team.
Before You Arrive
Do I need experience? No. Our team will show you everything.
What if it rains? We'll email you 24 hours in advance if we need to cancel or reschedule.
Is there a waiver? Yes, every volunteer signs a short waiver when registering.
Can my child volunteer? Yes! As long as you remain with them.
Are there restrooms? Yes, we have restrooms located adjacent to the farmhouse.
Is BLISS accessible? Our main paths are gravel and grass; some areas are uneven. Contact us and we'll help plan your visit.
